Status and Professional Achievement
Jakob Bösch MD was medical director of the Psychiatric Outpatient Services and the day clinics in Basel-Country and assistant professor for psychiatry and psychosocial medicine at the University of Basel until February 2006.
After his studies of medicine he obtained a postdoctoral scholarship for experimental medicine and worked at the Institute of Brain Research at the University of Zurich. Then he changed to the Psychiatric University Hospital and worked later during ten years at the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital Zurich, and proceeded to the status of head physician and assistant professor.
He engaged himself strongly in promoting the selfsupporting movement and self-help groups in the health sector and in building up community help and social support. For many years he has studied spiritual healing and was doing research on this topic including the work of spiritual healers within medical treatment. In 2002 his book "Spiritual healing and school medicine" appeared which became a bestseller in Switzerland. Jakob Bösch is award winner of the Swiss Society of Psychiatry, the Swiss Association for Natural Healing and of the Swiss federation of parapsychology.
